Patterned wallpaper, sometimes made of linen or silk, is a great choice for a space where you want some visual interest without feeling too overwhelming — like a living room. The thick texture of the muted green wallpaper above makes the living room look lush and serene.

There are countless wallpaper styles out there, and delving into them can be a big task. But one type of pattern that is always a winner in living rooms is the leafy pattern. These patterns add flair and help bring in the outdoors.

For living room walls that look like they belong in a modern art museum, look for wallpaper with abstract patterns. We love the patterns in the living room above from Katherine Carter Design, because they add interest to a neutral color and give it a unique touch.

Green is the perfect color for your living room: it is earthy, welcoming and rich at the same time. It’s also a great choice for wallpaper colors, as the living room above shows so well.

If you want your wallpaper to have a different color, choose a pattern that has some small details in another color. These will contrast with the main color and help lighten it.

Wallpaper can be an easy way to bring lots of color into your home. But it can also be used to highlight some color-free (or color-rich, depending on how you look at it) classics, like black and white. Black and white wallpaper is a great choice for funky or optical illusion-inspired patterns, and it definitely makes a big statement.

If you’re adding a pattern or pattern to your wallpaper and want to make sure it stands out, look for repeating wallpaper where the pattern or design is separated. This ensures that you notice what you’re looking at and that the intricacies of the design don’t get lost in the repetitive clutter.

Stylish and great wallpaper for the living room can always be found in gray. (Instead of thinking it’s a boring color choice, think about it as dependable.) It’s a great choice for more formal seating areas, like living rooms or libraries.

Would you like to add some wallpaper to your living room in a more budget-friendly way? Backdrop your fireplace. Note that this is probably not the best option for heating around a stove (eg: wood-burning fireplace). However, it is still a great way to show off a non-functional electric, gas or fireplace.

Vintage-inspired wallpaper patterns can add character and history to a living room, so incorporating them into your home should be a no-brainer. But there are also many vintage wallpapers out there, and choosing one can be a challenge. But one type of vintage-inspired pattern that stands out is bird-patterned wallpaper, like the one in the space above from Katie Leclerc.

Why add just a touch of color when you can flood your living room with it instead? That’s what happened in the living room above, and the house is better because of it. The teal wallpaper makes the space look unique and lively.

Just as wallpaper comes in a lot of crazy colors, it also comes in a lot of neutral colors. Neutral wallpapers can be a good choice for living rooms where there’s already a lot going on and you want to avoid the wallpaper becoming the focal point of the space.

Decoration is the key to taking your living room wallpaper to the next level, so don’t forget it. For a historic look, use thick wallpaper and trim around doors. For an elegant look, use detailed embellishment. For a simple look, use simple decorative trim.

For a truly unique wallpaper in your living room, use a mural of one of your favorite pieces of art. Although this option can be a little expensive, there is nothing like it. Plus, what’s the best way to show off the art you love?

Bold, bright hues can be at home, in the living room and anywhere. One way to bring them in is through wallpaper. Colorful geometric wallpaper is a great choice for adding some fun vibes to a feature wall in your living room, and it’s also an easy color palette for styling the rest of your space.

Radicals, this one’s for you. Wallpaper patterns can be busy and bright, but that doesn’t mean they can be the only pattern in the room. Instead, add more patterns to your living room and get a fun, collected look.

With the return of wallpaper, some trends are coming back with it. One trend we love is botanical prints – they add a subtle and slightly dramatic look, and can also give your living room a vintage touch.

Patterned fabric wallpaper adds an elegant look to living room walls anywhere. Thicker than regular paper or peel-and-stick wallpaper, fabric wallpaper can lift up walls that were once ordinary and make them feel worthy of a five-star hotel.

Do you have a large bare wall in your living room like me? I don’t think every empty wall needs to be decorated, but I think this one needs something. Not sure what! After searching for some inspiration, I’ve rounded up six of my favorite living room wall decor ideas to share!

Living Room Wall Decor Ideas To Reinvigorate Blank Spaces

To the right of the bare wall in the photo above, you can see the solution I used to decorate the largest of the four walls in our living room – an art gallery wall! I used ten framed art prints in a grid structure evenly spaced around the media console and TV:

Source: TV Controller (similar) | Chandelier (satin bronze) | White textured cushion cover | Artificial fig tree with four leaves | Carpets | Pair of Art Print Floor Pillows (details in |  Acrylic Coffee Table (similar) | Coffee Table Tray (28″ square) | Black and White Striped Box (on Coffee Table) | Copper Cricket (on Coffee Table) |  Gray Plaid Cover ( Similar ) Style Conversations | Book: The Collected Home Book: Emily Henderson Style Book: Dogs

My art prints are in 18″ x 24″ matte brass frames – you can’t purchase my exact frames separately (my artwork was shipped pre-framed) but they are very similar and the same size and scale. Come by size or check if you don’t need them too big.

The same grid-like gallery wall can also be used on a large wall behind the sofa without removing the center frames as we did to accommodate the TV. You can also create a more stylish looking gallery wall like our home office – check out our tips for creating your own!
